We need a word for cars, and we don’t have one. I understand that “person hit person with car” has a sentence structure implying grave harm, but there simply isn’t the cognitive weight behind “hit” as there is “stabbed” or “shot.” “Hit,” “murdered,” etc. all implicitly bury the lede of “car” just by merit of their generality.
