    I don’t know if you remember the Beast from the East blizzard in early 2018, but I was living in Dublin at that time and around 5 pm, it was already dark outside, I heard strange music coming closer from around the corner of my street. I looked through the window and low and behold, it was the most committed ice cream van lad I’ve ever seen. I laughed so hard, I almost choked on my pint. Went outside and bought some ice cream from him. He was good craic.

      The ice cream wars were turf wars in the East End of Glasgow, Scotland, in the 1980s between rival criminal organisations selling drugs[1][2] and stolen goods[1] from ice cream vans.

      He was maybe committed to the route for other reasons. It escalated to violence in Glasgow but I don’t doubt it’s happening in other cities, just without the theatrics of violent turf wars
