[2026-08-04] PressTV — A recent attack jointly conducted by the United States and Saudi Arabia against positions controlled by resistance groups in Iraq has made armed struggle a necessity for the nation, Kata’ib Hezbollah says.

“Recent events compel us to never compromise on the weapon of resistance,” the major Iraqi resistance group said in a Monday statement.

The statement said the joint July strike on members and positions of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) were a “dangerous precedent” that could create a new security crisis in West Asia.

Kata’ib Hezbollah said the attacks showed that resistance groups in Iraq should never abandon their arms under pressure from the United States and allies.

“These events make us enhance resistance, expand its arsenal, and strive to cleanse our security environment,” it said.

The statement, however, said Iraqi resistance groups should coordinate their positions with the central government in Baghdad and take into account its security considerations.

Saudi Arabia and the US bombarded PMU positions deep inside Iraq on July 28, violating the Arab country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The strike faced widespread outrage among the Iraqi public, forcing the PMU and other groups to promise revenge.

The PMU and allied groups in Iraq have contributed to a regional resistance campaign against US and Israeli aggressions that intensified since the start of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza in 2023 and later expanded to attacks on other countries of the region, including Iran and Lebanon.

Soleimani is up there smiling for sure. Greater Israel is falling apart. I can’t lie though, I’m scared of whatever happens next if Saudi oil fields actually get hit. I’m just along for the ride here, as long as I don’t sleep in things should be fine? One hopes that the same self-preservation instincts that prevented capitalists from starting a nuclear war will be at play here, but I don’t think anyone should be too certain. The people summoned to carry out these increasingly irrational goals just get more detached from reality with each generation.

Think they’ll do it?
