Wish my skills were this good when I redid the seals on 2 windows on my daily driver.
EDIT: For those who took one look and went, “The hell am I looking at?” No worries, it’s def odd. It’s a lens barrel and lens board for a large format camera. Though it was never made for a camera (let alone film of the format I’m gonna use it for) I’m making it work because… well… why not?
Was this with a finger? Gloves? Curious as to the technique…exquisite
Basic masking tape (nothing fancy) placed methodically, slow even initial placement of the RTV, then a tightly gloved finger (with smooth gloves) smoothly going across the length of the bead multiple laps with even pressure in a single motion. Lastly removing the masking tape while still wet to avoid tear out of the edges of the RTV (learned that lesson the hard way with my car windows a couple months ago)
The hard part was the age of my RTV tube. That baby was not a spring chicken and it showed. It was tough to get it to flow but I did that away from the main event and made sure it flowed nice before I went for my bead here.
