OP, from what I can see your fix appears to remove the fuse for the circuit and brings the contacts down on a length of loose wire dangling near the door jamb, with bare quick connects exposed. If the fuse has indeed been entirely bypassed, one of those wires/terminals will have 12V on it without fused protection and is at risk of shorting out to ground on bare metal, risking further electrical damage or potentially a causing a fire.
