When it came time to giving names to the members of the Addams Family, Charles had a name for the son, Pubert. But he was asked to rename him for the TV show. So he was named Pugsley.

Those that have seen the movies may recognize Pubert, that was the name of the second son.

There are a lot of things taken directly from the strips for both the TV show and the movies, in the show, Pugsley’s room is decorated with warning, and caution signs he has stolen.

    I love that they eventually used the name Pubert for the new Addams baby in the Addams Family Values movie.

    Just checked, I had no idea the family had no first names for more than two decades of strips, and only got them in the 60s with merch and adaptations.

    Apparently even Gomez’s name was not known until the TV series, and Morticia and Wednesday were named just 2 years before, when dolls were made based on them.

    I love love love the family circus feel this has initially, but one layer deeper it’s one of the single most sinister things available in newspaper comics.
