Many German cities have a thing called “Stolpersteine” (“Tripping stones”):
They’re metal plaques incorporated into the cobblestones in front of houses commemorating jewish people who used to live there but either got murdered by the Nazis or had to flee.
Must be a American thing.
Many European houses had probably lots of people dieing for centuries.
