In principle, you’re not wrong. In practice, I’m absolutely not above taking sheer glee in his suffering. Does that make me a bad person? Probably. But at this point I’m past caring. He doesn’t deserve empathy when he has none for anyone else and has spent his entire career teaching people that empathy is weakness.
