So, I’ve been trying to drum up activity over in c/RWBY (mostly by posting art) and someone suggested cross-posting to relevant communities, which I’ve been doing, only now I’m starting to second-guess the way I’ve been doing it.
Should I be cross-posting right away, or waiting some amount of time before doing so? And how long should that wait be, if I should wait?
Rule 5. Locking.
Whatever the niche topic is, when there are multiple communities that maybe be broad enough to contain your audience, there’s probably a lot of overlap in subscribers. So yes do crosspost, and do it immediately, but only cross any given post to 2 or 3 other communities. Then it won’t feel like large spam to people subscribed to all of them. I prefer to scroll by a set of 2-3 crossed duplicates, one right after another in the feed (because they were all posted at the same time) than to have one post seem to repeat with some time separation.
Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. In general I don’t use social media the way a lot of other people do and was worried that having a pic show up even those 2-3 times in a row would get on people’s nerves and end up not drawing them to the community.
Why wait? I personally want to see new communities here on the fediverse!
