It’s both. We’re not getting paid the full value of our labor, annual wage cuts are the default, and the only safe ways to save require buying into that same system of oppression.
The problem isn’t any of those things. The problem is that there isn’t enough affordable housing, and not enough housing period. We’re literally in a near-global housing crisis. Everything else would be fine if that wasn’t the case.
Wages are double what they used to be when gas was $2/gallon. So $4/gallon shouldn’t be a problem.
The problem is housing, followed by grocery. And in some areas, followed by energy.
Gas isn’t even on the list. It only feels as bad as it does because of everything else.
Not that it couldn’t be cheaper.
…And not like any country is selfless with their natural resources.
