Oddly, my handwriting is converging on something that resembles cursive. Not using the hand-cramping painstaking bullshit methods that were beaten into us during grade school, but with fluid movements that those misguided curricula were likely attempting to emulate.
Fifty-plus years ago, when I was learning, the method they taught wasn’t so forced. We were shown the way the letters could be formed, but mostly left to ourselves to figure out our own way there. The trailing tail meant to flow into the next letter was something that happened naturally as we learned, it wasn’t a forced part of each letter, to later be joined. I don’t know why they changed it, probably just to sell some “new and improved” method. That just made it worse as far as I can tell.
