“If the internet disappeared tomorrow, could you still get through an entire workday?”
“If electricity disappeared tomorrow, could you still get through an entire workday?”
“If gasoline disappeared tomorrow, could you still get through an entire workday?”
Yeah society eventually gets us addicted to many things for basic existence that we really should not be relying on. Hell, add even things like GPS, cell towers, and more to that list, we take so much for granted that could be rugpulled at any moment.
I’m glad that AI has not reached the stage of “if the internet disappeared” yet, because I work in IT and I don’t think I could get through a workday without the internet, but for AI I wouldn’t notice a difference, as all it does is transcribe my conversations, which I already do manually anyway.
To those two, my answer is: Internet and electricity, no because I work in IT and my job depends on those things, though this is obviously not true for all jobs. Gasoline, yes, I could; getting to my job might be a challenge currently because I currently need to take a rail replacement bus…

lucky you, the bus probably runs on diesel
Yes, that’s probably true. It’s certainly not electric though.
Carrington Event is that guy (rugpull as Amos from The Expanse).
I’m addicted to regular doses of non-steroidal anti-inflammation powder.Sorry, no, I misremembered. I’m addicted to regular doses of corticosteroid powder.
