Like the Romans used to drink from lead cups. Something like that.

a more complete person would rawdog life as one should, appreciate it fully and all.

This life is not even close to the one we evolved for, it’s OK to get some help if you need it. What that help looks like is up to you, not a societal expectation of ‘should’, IMO.

Life has been difficult and confusing one way or another forever. We should try not to be dependent on (almost always, entirely optional) crutches, we risk getting used to them and losing the ability to walk without them. And this is not so much of a societal expectation but my own, that I try to run away at times because it’s easier (and I’m sure everyone who thinks being an addict/dependent is a morally or developmentally neutral thing has the same internal dialogue and excuses). To a large degree we can think ourselves into happiness and sadness, into stability and madness, can we not think ourselves out of these things as well? It deserves a try, at least, and that’s the responsible thing to do.

But regardless of all of that, thanks for your good vibes. 🫶

Fair enough, I sort of thought it might be like that, I was trying to leave room with ‘What that help looks like is up to you’ while making a larger point for the audience. Be well on your own path.

This seems to be an unpopular view, but I agree. The human brain essentially has no hard limits on what it can think.
