I feel like an alien in these comments.

I… “subscribe” to YouTubers. But I watch videos à la carte, only if the subject seems interesting.

    I don’t follow them.

I sympathize when they open up about personal stuff mid-video, but that aside I have zero interest in their lives/feed. Why should I? I don’t have a relationship with them.

So I never had the chance to drop any because I don’t follow them in the first place.

    …Is this a neurodivergence thing?

    I feel like it is.

What’s actually being asked here is:

Which subs have you unsubbed because enough of their videos have been bad, or they’ve made a bad moral stance that pissed you off bad enough that you don’t want to support them?

It’s not about loving the person or their life, but you subscribe to Bob’s engineering channel And Bob starts talking about how Hitler had it right and this country doesn’t deserve to exist. It’s not just entertainment, but you don’t want your ad revenue going to them.

I mean, whatever “hip” is, I am the farthest thing from that.

I was thinking it was part of my… more antisocial tendencies.

no. I’m neurotypical and I have very low interest in parasocial relationships.

Videos are there for me to watch while I eat my lunch. I have about 5 youtubers I follow and when one isn’t worth watching I just add someone else to the mix.
