US President Donald Trump has slammed the “disgraceful” Nobel Peace Prize choice as leaving an “indelible stain” on Norway, arguing that the award should have gone to him.

South African judge and human rights champion Navi Pillay won the prestigious prize yesterday in recognition of her work against war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Reminder that Trump has repeatedly threatened to nuke Iran.

But the only thing he’s nuked so far is the United States’ global reputation. The fallout from that is going to be measured in decades if not centuries.

I’m tempted to argue it will be permanent. The world knows Trump is just a symptom of the disease.

Yes, but maybe things will change once the empire collapses, once the USD is no longer the reserve currency, once we’re not siphoning money into the military that demands to be justified, once we’ve defaulted on our debts, and once the world has separated itself from all our financial and business systems…

I think once the US ultimately ballanizes after the collapse there will be some establishing new diplomatic ties with the entities that emerge to control the countries that emerge from the rubble.

The actual state and how it’s structured is the problem, if the three west coast states decide to form Pacifica or whatever I doubt the EU is gonna spite the new country because of the American empire. Some countries will get along with the new Republic of Texas and other will prefer trade relations with Appalachia or Rustopia(parts of the Midwest)

I dunno how the chips are gonna fall exactly but I doubt the actual land mass and the people living there will be pariahs after the fall happens

I don’t know what situations would lead to the break up of the United States, but California is the 4th largest economy in the world and if the Federal Government was laid low enough, it could probably make a decent play for independence.

Most of the scenarios for balkanization of the United States usually start with the complete dissolution of the Federal Government by some apocalyptic event.

From my perspective there’s four broad scenarios that might occur.

              The first one assumes

              1. midterm elections are legitimate
              2. the democrats sweep
              3. they then immediately and aggressively use that power to start unfucking everything, prosecute the fascists, expand and stack the Supreme Court, and majorly overhaul the parts of the system that allowed Trump and his backers to gain power in the first place. If that happens I will be shocked and happy to be proven wrong.

The second assumes the first two, but in place of 3 they continue the pattern established by the Biden admin of milquetoast appeasement and “nothing will fundamentally change”. That will just lead to more growing frustration with the democrats and disillusionment with the American system. If trumps alive in 28 he will refuse to step down and no one will stop him, if he croaks and JD takes office hes going to continue degrade the US because he’s Peter Theils puppet even more than Trump is and Theil wants the Fed to collapse so he can be a god king in a corporate city state(for more on that look into Curtis Yarvin and “the dark enlightenment”)

The final two are much more simple and in my opinion more likely than either of the aforementioned. Assuming the elections are not legitimate and it’s a manufactured red wave there’s only two ways that goes, the American electorate decides it’s unacceptable and rises up to stop it, or we just sit back and do nothing.

The worst and best scenarios are the only ones where I think the US stays together. A revolution would require negotiations for where things go from there and to your point California could easily go their own way and be fine, Texas might just want to even if it’s not as good a plan. And there’s also so many factions within the maga that want to carve things up for either religious, racist, or corporate/profit reasons.

I hope I’m just a cynical pessimist but I don’t have much faith in the existence of the United States federal government without major reforms for much longer

You’d need to motivate rich people to go along with the balkanization, and you’d have to do it before they could be arrested for “corruption” or disappeared…

Also, to get this movement going you’d have a counter to the massive spy network that gives the feds to target and drag people out of their homes before they can cause trouble…

I think you’re more likely to see rural areas secede, because those guys are Pro-Trump (decreasignly), but also very anti-federal in their bones. Most liberal coasters, driving the economy, think a USG is pretty swell.

Well it’s permanent until the systemic core problems have been fixed. However that would take rewriting major parts of the United States Constitution. Not holding my breath for it to happen in any near decades. Unless there is revolt/civil war level event. Those usually lead to constitutional changes pretty quickly.
