The inner edge/brink of the plate swirls slightly inwards, starting at the plate’s outer edge and terminating at the inner bottom.

Spiral is kind of weird though. Maybe if you’re mixing something by swirling the bowl it might help keep liquid in. But I’m leaning towards it just being a kooky design
