I’ve heard from people that these are some kind of special cameras, possibly with AI, that can completely scan your phone that is, the files on your phone, your contacts and so on, I don’t know for sure. It’s possible that even if your phone is turned off, it won’t help. It’s scary for me.
Maybe it’s my paranoia, but if I remember correctly, 5 years ago I didn’t even know that it was possible to spy on people via Wi-Fi and thought that AI wouldn’t come soon, but in reality, the reality turned out to be much scarier. Holy crap.

You’re half right here. A “camera” can’t directly access your data unless you hold the screen up to the lens, but Flock is more than just a “camera”.
It contains cell, WiFi and Bluetooth sensors on it that will also track IMEI, and MAC address of phones, cars, watches and anything else emitting a wireless signal. So now instead of tracking a car with a license plate, they can say “a phone with IMEI of X has been here, here and here”.
Since people usually keep their phones on them, now they know where a person has been regardless of what they are wearing, what car they’re in, etc. Or let’s say you paint your car and change your license plate, the Bluetooth transmitter in it or cell connection in it still stays the same.
Even without the camera pointing at you, it still has a 360-degree “look” of what’s nearby.
