It’s very different which is obviously what they were going for, but I really like the way they redid most of the villains in Caped Crusader. I didn’t like it at first, but looking back, was especially impressed with Two Face.

It is sexist, but I feel like at a different level. Growing up I was never expected to ever need to grocery shop, so no effort was made to familiarize me with the process. It was never said out loud, but skills like that were just assumed to be for women. No one said you couldn’t, they just looked at you weird and you internalized that when you were young and just didn’t think about it again. I am old but not that old, we had cell phones when I was a kid but our most advanced app was snake.
People don’t realize how far we’ve come so fast but then also don’t realize how unevenly applied that is. There are still a tremendous amount of men living objectively successful lives raised the exact same way I was that would be completely inexperienced with the idea of a produce aisle. If you’re rich, poor or just in a specific culture you can still easily skip a lot of seemingly very basic skills and still be “well adjusted” by most metrics.

4·12 days agoThis was actually touted as an acne remedy at one point. I tried it when I was a teenager, it does take care of the oil buildup and dry you out, but you also feel like you can taste mint with your forehead.

1·18 days agoMine was a bit farther back… would be measured in decades ago, I may turn to dust shortly, but maybe same area. It’s crazy how much the strength of tornadoes ramps up on the western half of the state.

2·18 days agoThere’s an odd greenish haze in the sky that I’ve never seen a camera properly capture and you don’t just hear the sound of the tornado with your ears, you can feel it in your bones first. All of those tiny hairs all across your body, it’s almost like they have an electric charge. When it gets close, the air gets odd and it starts to feel like there’s suddenly not enough of it.
Rationally, it’s a lot of contributing factors getting amped up by the biggest adrenaline rush you’ve ever had. It was my first season after moving a bit farther west than I’d ever been and I felt like I opened the front door to find myself within 100 feet of the thing, but it is hard to trust yourself to look back on something like that with a scientific mind. The feeling I got didn’t even feel like fear, it was just a feeling of ‘have to go’ and I’ve never felt it again. For the actual situation, everything my body was telling me was worthless and nothing I could have done would have done any good if my luck had failed me, but the Tornado was just passing by on it’s way to somewhere else.

If there’s one thing that’ll get the Lizard Brain going… it’s the only time I’ve ever felt like something deeper was telling my brain that we had to get the fuck out of here.

7·24 days agoI just want you to ask yourself, does putting that information out in the world make anyone’s day better. Cmon friend, no one wants to see that.

“Fuck you I won’t do what you tell me” is kind of universal, but you’d think “Some of those who work forces are the same who burn crosses” would have been a hint towards which side they lean towards.
