3 days agoI wasn’t raised in LGBT, wasn’t born in a place there it’s supported either (and it still isn’t there), and am not LGBT+ myself. But I wholeheartedly support their right to whichever it is they’re born to do.
But that one time I didn’t update my dictionary and just said LGBT+ and one of em came to me to basically reprimand me saying I should be using LGBT with the right suffixes, that was not cool.
I still support their cause, but it’s good to remember that there are assholes in every imaginable group of people, regardless of whether or not they’re discriminated against. And they should also just gtfo of their bubbles more. And yes, that comfort zone is a dang bubble by definition.
I had an older cousin that I looked up to a lot as a kid. They went to work with Google, and, over many years when we get together, kept praising Google and parroting the shit they say. They’ve left Google now for their own exploits, but still remain a Google ambassador, and somewhat frequently still posts about things that Google ships and just echo the empty shit Google says.
It’s a terrible feeling. I lost a cousin, and someone whom I looked up to. Haven’t talked to them in years and don’t really want to either. Knowing them, I’ll just be chided for not being serious about life and living.
