Books@lemmy.ml•My first children's book of this year - Where the Red Fern Grows (1961) Review
4·5 days agoI read this book in middle school, aged 12 or so and it wrecked my class emotionally. I remember it being a good book, it’s a shame that stories about dogs rarely have a happy ending.
Are you talking about Stephen King’s Dark Tower series for your next read/listen? If so, the Wikipedia article has a list in chronological order. That’s as good a way as any to read them since there was one Dark Tower book that was released after the whole series. Some of his stand alone books tie into the series as well, the main ones to me are The Stand and Salem’s Lot. It and Insomnia would also be good for the tie in book list.
You can go down a pretty deep rabbit hole with the King stories, I’ve seen lists with 20+ associated works that have reference to the Dark Tower series, but it’s basically those seven books. The Stand and Salem’s Lot are heavily intertwined and worth the time if you like Stephen King and that world.
I read them 15+ years ago, although I remember enjoying The Dark Tower and those other books, they didn’t stick with me they way other books have. Maybe because they don’t have the broader cultural impact as other books but there are stories I’ve read years ago where I still remember all of the plot points…I should revisit that world.
