11·23 days agoTengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and Neon Genesis Evangelion also (positively) changed my view on life and what makes it worth living.
Gurren Lagann is much more overt with the positive messaging.
The entire Knight’s Radiant First Ideal is great. This book and aspect in particular really spoke to me :)

Journey Before Destination.

The most important words a man can say are, “I will do better.” These are not the most important words any man can say. I am a man, and they are what I needed to say.
The ancient code of the Knights Radiant says “journey before destination.” Some may call it a simple platitude, but it is far more. A journey will have pain and failure. It is not only the steps forward that we must accept. It is the stumbles. the trials. The knowledge that we will fail. That we hurt those around us.
But if we stop, if we accept the person we are when we fall, the journey ends.
That failure becomes our destination.
To love the journey is to accept no such end. I have found, through painful experience, that the most important step a person can take is always the next one.
Is it work from home? Might be able to swing a second job during the do nothing 8-5 to bump up the numbers if you’re able.
1·6 months agoI was pretty anti-post limits, but after seeing lemmyshitpost today… well. I can understand why they’re in place.
I think if you follow the rules as they’ve been laid out now, you should be allowed to stick around.
Previously the rule requiring a source or attribution link was not a rule.
While I don’t agree with Beep’s public POV on how website links for the artists are equivalent to an advertisement, it wasn’t against the rules. Just kind of rude.
If they’re willing to follow the rules now, they can stay. It’s that easy.
It’s really hard to compare (nearly complete) series with a standalone book.
Maybe try Mistborn: The Final Empire, and just read that specific entry of the Mistborn series and ignore all the other Cosmere books.
Unfortunately I’m not very good an answering this question, because I often go for long running fantasy series and not one off books.
I’m assuming you’re looking for something in the realm of high fantasy, right? Or are you genre-flexible?
