Most of the people going on about him take a lot of umbrage with his racist ideology, but all he seems to do with it is blog. If there are more material concerns (like with Proton) then I’m not seeing them be raised.

I mean, something is fishy when Michael Dell et al dump millions into a particular distro. Could be the AI-forward identity, could be the development of tools with permissive licenses, could be DHH is just rich and good at schmoozing. Hard to say.

Okay I’m seeing further chicanery. Their GitHub repo gives the license as MIT but many of the components are not Omarchy originals but derivatives of other products under different licences. Quickshell is LGPL 3, for example, and of course the Linux kernel is GPL 2.
But then there’s a guy working on the “Omarchy Kernel”, which I guess is a derivative like Ubuntu does…
Personalities aside this is still weird, and I wish people would focus on that.

I like the positivity!

Not that I can tell.

I am not an Omarchy or DHH hater but…why? It’s Arch with Hyperland, why are people fawning over it? Is it just because he keeps saying “agentic”?
I’m agentic too, how about throwing me a million bucks?
The nix package(?) system, sure, but the eponymous OS of course has parts under a diversity of licenses, including a GPL kernel.
What I don’t get/trust if how Omarchy just slaps an MIT label on its GitHub even when I can see software in there that I know use different licenses.
