Not familiar with it specifically, but… if you want privacy using LLMs, run local models on your own computer. Anything else is just asking for a rug pull eventually – regardless of the intentions of whoever set up the service originally.

I’m aware that it exists but I don’t know how to use it, or really why I’d want to. The few times I’ve tried to check it out, I’ve run into a sign up wall before I could see anything. (Why the fuck would I want to register on a server to chat when I have no idea who’s on it or what they’re even chatting about there!?) On top of that, there’s the complications of federated software – which server? which client? etc – and the comparisons to Discord (which I dislike) really don’t help either…

My impression of it so far is that I’d rather people just post here for anything that’s supposed to be public.

If I can’t go on Amazon and buy a copy for sale at any price, I’m of the opinion that I’m justified in pirating it – and I have put my money where my mouth is on that point.

I think it’s ethically justifiable to pirate media that has been abandoned by its creators; without such action, media would become lost.

Legally, it’s not ok until it goes out of copyright, but if the company that has the rights to a work isn’t even selling it, it’d be rather weird for them to bother wasting money pursuing a claim against you.

I’d rather like to see the laws changed so that what feels ethical and what is legal are in alignment with each other again, but I don’t expect sanity on that front to show up during my lifetime…

Antennas on Misskey are a way to filter posts based on certain conditions. (e.g. include/exclude certain keywords, tags, etc.)

As I understand it, users can set up multiple antennas and tune them to select for messages they care about, and you get a timeline for each one.

I think the upvote/downvote system and karma systems popularized by reddit, etc. are largely failed attempts at mitigating the effects of the Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory.

If I were to set up a new social network today, I’d look towards antenna systems instead for inspiration on how to design it. That said, I haven’t spent much time on Misskey and that kind of thing probably has its own issues that I don’t know about.

No. Asimov’s laws were created as rules for making interesting fiction about robots – instead of the crappy “monster goes on a rampage” style stories that were prevalent before that. The whole point of them is to be insufficient so that you have something to write a story about!
