Actually I’ve been considering a shift into mushroom farming.

I wish this weren’t so accurate. But I was laid off 6 months ago and I’m still looking despite having 6 years in SW-dev. That’s not the case for everybody, of course, but it’s a rough outlook for a lot of us in tech.

Only real advice I’ve got for OP: surround yourself with a good support network.
