Props for admitting he was wrong. A “fool,” sure, but still feels kinda light on the self-disrespect for the content of some of their lyrics. I don’t recall “going with the flow” to include pedophilia. Necrophilia, on the other hand, totally going with the flow.

I agree with you but I may be misunderstanding your comment. Are you saying that they have pedophilic content? I’m racking my brain and I can’t think of anything like that, and I’m pretty sure they’ve spoken (in their works) against it

I was an avid icp lover when I was younger. And I still am of the works I’m familiar with. Though I haven’t listened to their newest stuff and don’t know their current views. Back then, they had an acab message along with calling out corruption and greed. I can’t remember anything specifically calling pedos out but they absolutely hate on child abusers and I couldn’t imagine they’d give sex abuse a pass

Ok, so while I was looking for songs I found this one which admittedly wasn’t an album I listened to. Amusingly it’s on the same one that has the song people hate on them for: To Catch a Predator . Sings about playing as a young girl online to lure and kill or torture would-be predators, so there’s a whole anti-pedo song

I unashamedly still listen to them once in a while and they get unfair hate. I just don’t want that comment misconstrued. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk; I didn’t mean to post a whole-ass thing

There’s no way anyone would have guessed from my basic-ass comment, but I’ve lived most of my life with trauma from childhood sexual abuse. And with fucking kids being en vogue worldwide at the moment, my triggers have been woooo boy. Sorry to shit on your duo, just differing perspectives.

I am unfamiliar with ICP’s content so can’t say exactly what is and isn’t in there, but horrifically, yes, “going with the flow” can very much include sexualizing minors depending on what decade you’re looking at.

For example, a now-infamous 1978 article in High Times.

CW: Gross sexualization of a minor

The article describes then 13 year old Brooke Shields as “the most perfect nymphette in all creation” and “a sultry mix of all-American virgin and nascent whore”.

I’ve been fixated on the huge blind spot people have about the 90’s, or anything pre-2000. Pedo, or at the very least the teen version of it, was super acceptable. ‘If there’s grasa on the field, play’ was an incredibly common sentiment, and I think just about any male musical artist(at least the males are easier to find examples of) has at least one instance of sexualizing a minor in the 13-16 range.

ICP has a few. Nirvana has some. Beastie Boys. Pretty sure Green Day had some questionable moments. Just about all hair metal and classic rock. It was like a weird inside joke.

Not entirely clear on what the big turning point is but the disavowals started even before Me Too. Suddenly it became super tasteless to make those same comments and everyone was very suddenly never a person who would say these things.
