You’re not counting the scenario in which distant houses that are stranded in some “suburbia” will crash in value and those places will be slowly abandoned.

The cost of the house won’t reduce by more than the cost of a BEV though.
One could hope. Maybe an investment in rail to those areas and more mixed use zoning to turn them back into old train stop towns were.
