The superheating thing is only an issue if you way overdo it. If you’re that worried about it you could just put a tiny scratch on the inside of the vessel or toss some microwave safe anything in there.
Kettles are just easier and faster.
Yes. You pretty much have to have a near perfect surface, free of any defects or scratches, for it to happen and it has to be perfectly still. I doubt anyone has mugs and such that are free of any scratches inside.
