I have a home server running docker. I have a docker container for Gluetun and qBittorrent. Gluetun connects to my VPN provider and provides a tunnel interface for the BitTorrent client to use
You typically don’t need any of that stuff besides a VPN. Just make sure to set your torrent client to bind to the VPN interface and you’ll be good to go.
There’s regular updates to the best one so you may have to do a web search to find some privacy community/subreddit that has a comparison chart of some sort.
Last I looked Proton was popular, but I never trusted them because they seem like they want to be google. I went with Mulvad, which is a great VPN but one of the CEOs just came out as donating to nazis so I don’t even know any more.
Just like that? I’m way behind on the tech and it’s always been spooky to me. Any good reference for getting started/picking services?
I personally use AirVPN as they allow port forwarding, but I also use my NAS as a seed box.

Awesome thanks for actually doing that. I’m still a ways away from fully grasping some of this stuff but that does help temendously.

Yeah, that’s how I do it. Download the the VPN app (Mullvad for me), buy some time on your account, switch it on, and carry on just like before.
Easy to set up and I’ve never had a problem.
