Not too long after I replaced the fan, another part decided to fail. I thought it was the pump at first but after replacing that and it still not working, I was pretty stumped.

I did some YouTube research and found out that the moter that drives the basket to dump the ice out and store the water inside uses two limit switches. The one pictured is the one that’s busted.

I forgot to take a photo of it after fixing everything up (was honestly very excited to have figured it out and fix it again) but after replacing the switch, it started making ice again!

Cost me about $20 total, 14 for the pump and 6 for some limit switches which I could’ve gotten cheaper but wanted the faster shipping to get this done. Happy GF, happy me.

It’s always good to hear there are still things people can fix on their own! I fixed my girlfriend’s washing machine with a $30 part from Amazon a while back and it was a great feeling lol I was certain I would destroy it and she’d have to buy another one but it was surprisingly easy

Was it the lid switch? On my GF’s parent washing machine, it was the lid switch that was the issue. I ended up just jumping the connection until they got another one but it worked fine until then.

I get what you mean, its so satisfying to fix your own stuff. And not as hard as one might think depending on the project.

It’s was actually the water pump on the back which looked really intimidating when you see the part but it only took me about 40 minutes to finish following some instructions on a YouTube video!
