City leaders announced Friday that the area around the intersection of Tremont and Parker Streets will see a “number of street upgrades,” including a bike lane that will be separated from traffic by parked cars. The city will also paint new white lines there and at nearby intersections.
It should not take someone to die and a ghost bike to be placed to get safe bike infrastructure.
I completely agree. It’s a shame but it’s best to look towards making it not happen again.
IMHO, we should let the survivors have the first right of refusal to name these improvements with those who passed away. It’ll make political moves to remove bike infrastructure more hellish when it’s not “remove the x street bike lane” but “remove the Dwyane Good lane.”
