    If saber-tooth were so great, why did they go extinct?

    Obviously, they weren’t great enough to survive until now. They are far inferior to say sharks, crocodiles and yes, modern cats.

      It’s not that they were weak, it’s just that all their prey disappeared when humans showed up. Seeing natural selection as some kind of merit has flaws. If they evolved, they were well-adapted by definition. If they went extinct, the conditions that made them evolve changed.
