Indeed, they’ll take on the flavor of whatever you add to them just like potato chips. Otherwise, it’s just a different crunchy texture.

haha I remember going to Mexican restaurants as a kid in Texas and thinking it was a fancy place if they served food in a molcajete 😅 they’re pretty common in Mexico… this is bar food at a place in Coyoacan
aji sauce ☺️ over chicken and potatoes with rice and hard-boiled egg. I believe that was a touch of parmesan though I’m not privy to the entire magic mix of ingredients.

17·13 days agoThe people who avoided drinking water in favor of beer? No, I doubt they envisioned widespread government-sponsored clean water systems in the first place let alone the society we’ve since become unable to maintain such systems. Enjoy your obscenely expensive bottled dead water.

Sure, it’s always at least accompanied by a good spicy salsa. It’s definitely different from the food further north though. Tacos are there but they’re not as good as Mexico City, for the most part. My absolute favorite thing to eat there are the tlayudas especially from the vendors on the street which you, conversely, won’t find up north … at least not good ones. The mezcal is also awesome and I love a good mole … I’ve still never found one as good as an ex girlfriend’s mom once made me 😅 but what I had in Oaxaca came pretty close
