    A nail when positioned correctly will cause a flat tire to slowly deflate once it’s driven over. Makes it less likely to get caught because the damage won’t be discovered at the scene

      The problem is the tire is still repairable. A small hole in the side wall cannot be repaired.

        Yeah, I think it’s a case of balancing risk, as is the case with all things like this. A hole caused by a nail is easier to repair, but still an annoyance, especially if the lower risk means more people feel safe enough to take direct action in this way. I agree that a hole in the side wall is way more effective, but it’s definitely a riskier strategy
