No way that actually happened that’s hilarious. I’m guessing it just launched the first game that was installed alphabetically or something?

I still can’t believe he basically ruled game engines after Carmack shot himself in the foot with IdTech Doom3 and megatextures, and fumbled the fucking ball this hard.

He’s literally sitting on fortnite money ON TOP and STILL FUCKING UP.

      HOW?!

When you’re on top, it’s easy to insulate yourself from anyone willing to tell you, “No, that’s a stupid idea!”

I tried the update on two different machines (one with a SATA SSD boot drive, other with M.2), and my Steam startup time is still about 15 seconds on both.

I mean, it depends on who’s using it, but usually. Do you think epic decently implemented features with AI? Because I doubt it. They can’t even set resolution properly.

Damn ONE minute too late, I was gonna say the same thing lmao

Yea AI CAN be decent and useful, but you gotta put the effort in to check and fix it’s fuck ups. Epic is not the ones I’d trust to do that lmao

In this case AI is then probably better than their programmers, it has advanced significantly in the last 6 months

Oh you haven’t noticed it yet? When it comes to improvement of AI or perceived value, its always that it will be better in 6 months. Just like fusion is only 2 years away. All the while the world is burning, hurrah for the shareholders!

                I didn’t say WILL, I said HAS

                It has improved massively

Torvalds said his position on this is a pragmatic one that’s “based on technical merit. Not fear of new tools.” And when it comes to utility, Torvalds said that “AI is a tool, just like other tools we use. And it’s clearly a useful one. It may not have been that ‘clearly’ even just a year ago, but it’s no longer in question today. … Anybody who doubts that clearly hasn’t actually used it.”

                https://arstechnica.com/ai/2026/07/linus-torvalds-to-critics-of-ai-coding-in-linux-fork-it-or-just-walk-away/

Why you make me invoke Tovalds when you could literally just search around the web using searxng or whatever search engine you use and see that it has massively improved, it no longer makes mistakes every 5 seconds, it now has the ability to check it’s own work, it can make tool calls and search the web, it’s light years ahead of where it was even 2 years ago.

All the while the world is burning, hurrah for the shareholders!

China is the largest increase in co2 emissions since the year 2000 and it’s by a lot

You can use Mistral which trains its models and its inference is hosted in the EU using co2 free power sources (nuclear/hydro) or renewables.

AI has not significantly improved in the last 6 months and won’t in the upcoming 6 months, it’s all marketing nonsense at this point. We’ve reached the mathematical limit of what transformer models based on language can achieve and there’s no new fundamental tech in the pipeline, all you see now are minor improvements in efficiency and implementation (harnesses and stuff). New domains it is used in doesn’t make it better overall, and it sure as hell doesn’t improve LLM’s ability of understanding structural design or suddenly add an ability of abstract adaptation (what would be necessady for “AGI”).

Even the trust-me-bro benchmarks - if not faked - show them topping out at this point, not just scientific studies into the matter.

The technology has reached its limit being financially pumped up without breaking even. To say it has improved massively in the last 6 months is just drinking the marketing Koolaid, only the implementations proceeded. The models behind it are stagnating.

And for the love of god, stop with this “but China!!!” bullshit. The west literally moved all production capacity there and now blames China for the results. I dislike the CCP as well, but once taking production capacity, market of said products (i.e. western products get counted for western CO2 budgets) and population into account it looks completely different.

I opened epic, it froze my laptop, and then gave me a crash report code about resolution. I don’t think epic is competent enough to review code. If they can’t review code, it doesn’t matter how good the llm is, unless it’s perfect.
