I know what you did that summer.

You don’t like stopping at a motel with COLOR TV?
People have assumptions of what correct communication should be, and it generally has a minimum page length instead of minimum content amount.
The worst cases I’ve seen is when they’re trying to convince someone of something verbally, they get the agreement very quickly, but get stuck in convince mode rather than moving on since it shouldn’t be that easy.

You should bring the dolls to the hotel! Nothing bad could ever happen if you did that.

If you can prove it with a proponderence of existence in a court of civil law, sure.

In regards to making friends, this is probably one of the easiest places to make them. It doesn’t mean you’ll be friends with everyone, but it means you’ll have a lot more opportunities. Say yes and be open to be experiences.
Also, a big shift for college from high school is that more of the responsibility to stay motivated and on top of things falls onto you directly. That includes getting up and going to class and doing the work when you’re going through a depressive episode. You’re going to need to have a way to push through when you’re otherwise not up to it.
Also, college isn’t just about learning. It is about experiencing new things and taking leadership. Don’t forget to do that as well.

We kind of have a global legislature already. We would just need a global executive.

There’s two things I’ve found that happen if there is a loop in the conversation.
They aren’t getting the causal implications. At that point, it is important to stop and ask if there was anything said earlier in the conversation that was unclear where they are asking the same question again. It starts to put them on the spot because you’re rejecting their question and forcing them to rearticulate their question. It isn’t enough that you’re saying something, but that they’re listening.
They don’t like the argument but they don’t have a good response to tell you so they’re hoping to wear you down. At this point, there isn’t anything you can do to convince them so it is more laying out the consequences, protecting yourself, and moving forward. Drop all pretense at convincing them. If the chain of command needs to get involved, get it involved.
You know how some people have imposter syndrome? More people should have it.
