How can you be so distracted not to notice a cow?
Depends on the speed you are driving.
Texas has cows. Not as many as pop culture might suggest, but a lot.
Texas also has lots and lots of country roads with 60miles per hour speed limits. That’s nearly 100 kph in euros.
If it’s night and a cow is on the road you might not have time to react. The cow certainly doesn’t have time.
Most people have really bad night vision. They still drive like they are in daylight even on moonless nights. Even a small car has big stopping distances when travelling at speed. No one has it drilled into them enough, at a certain speed, your stopping distance is longer than the range of your headlights, and it’s not as fast as most people seem to believe.
Over-driving your headlights at 5AM. Years ago, my roommate’s brother died by crashing his car into the side of a train that way.
