      Cost is like, towards the end of the list of why I wouldn’t have kids. It’s certainly there, but number 1 would probably be something like “I would never forgive myself for bringing another life into this shitty world unsolicited”.

            if you can afford a child with minimal impact to your lifestyle, you are quite wealthy.

            childcare is like 2-3K a month, for that to not substantailly impact you, i would assume your take home is northwards of 10K+ a month, which means you’re making close to 200K+. which is often the income bracket at which having children is not a life-style altering choice.

            for most folks, having a kid is so expensive it completely alters their lifestyle because it removes like 30-50% of their income.

                implying children aren’t a financial burden implies you’re wealthy.

                the original post says ‘cost’ and the other person goes ‘cost isn’t a reason for me’.

                so i go ‘ok how much do you make that cost isn’t a reason for you?’ because the legit reason for the vast majority of folks, is the cost. they can’t afford kids, so they don’t have them.
