It’s piss like a racehorse.
And that is after the race.
Holy… She kept going even after the diarrhea started? How did they not disqualify her once there was shit running down her legs? And the nerve to make all the other participants touch your shit just to win a race is something else. I know athletes need a competitive mindset but thats just disrespectful.
I guess it happens to marathon runners all the time, but they’re generally on public streets outdoors (with the airflow advantages that implies) and the worst case is stepping in it and getting it on their shoes. This is a much more up-close sport (and indoors), like to the point where other competitors might have needed to do pushups in the same spot she did them. They tore out the carpet after her race.
It doesn’t help that she posted “Go hard or go home. A win is a win” while getting an IV immediately afterwards.

Yeah I think she didnt exactly have a clear mind after winning a professional competition while sick and leaking diarrhea everywhere. But yeah it does make her sound very arrogant and disrespectful.
For me, it’s always a race when I have diarrhea

Damn. Well done to the odd man who sings about poop, puke and pee.
multiple media outlets report that Wietrzyk’s major sponsor, Puma, is distancing itself from the athlete by quietly removing “Joanna Wietrzyk x PUMA” clothing items from its website.
…
On social media, people have flooded the brand’s comments with plays on “Puma,” such as “Pooma,” “Poopma” and “Poo Ma Pants.”Jesus Christ. Another embarrassment for Australia. I honestly don’t know who’s worse: Shitstirrer or Raygun.
After the Scott Morrison at McDonalds story we all just assume aussies shit themselves. It’s why your PM is always in a floatie.
oi! Bruce!

Nice PR apology. If she actually gave a shit she would have forfeit before it became an issue.
If she gave a “shit” you say?
“Zesraj się a nie daj się”. Living up to her polish roots.
Wietrzyk’s major sponsor, Puma, is distancing itself from the athlete by quietly removing “Joanna Wietrzyk x PUMA” clothing items from its website. But a spokesperson for Puma says there’s “no change” to their partnership with Wietrzyk, telling CBC News in a statement Thursday that some landing pages were “unintentionally taken offline.”

I feel sorry for these people when I read stories like these. They’re pushing themselves so hard physically and emotionally, their head’s in a weird place, their judgement is off and they end up humiliating themselves on the world stage. Virtually the entire world. The worst kind of fame. This person’s life is over. They will forever be the point of ridicule by everyone.
Can you imagine waking up every day, your career is totally over, having to face that. Knowing that the whole world has seen what you did in the heat of the moment. You have let down every one who supported you, your family, and failed your life’s goal in the most embarrassing way possible. To hide yourself away in miserable shame is the best you could possibly hope for.
And it just doesn’t go away, now you have to get on camera to apologize and explain it away. You have to make statements. You have to watch clips of it over and over. Everywhere you go people are talking about you in hushed mocking wispers. Everything you do will have an asterisk near it. One fucked up moment overshadows everything else you will ever do from here on out. For the rest of your life.
That’s a hard burden to carry.
Apparently, in her mind this was a Michael Jordan with the flu situation. She has pictures afterwards in a hospital bed getting an IV and bragging about how you have to do what you have to do.
Now all that said, I’m a little sympathetic, as apparently shitting yourself during marathons and the like is not uncommon, but this was some weird crossfit thing where you are indoors and constantly getting down on the floor for various reasons and using provided equipment, so anyone who came after her was wading through her poopies. I think you have to be capable of being very self-centered, at least temporarily, to be a truly elite competitive athlete, but somebody should have thought this one through better.
Well, it’s no one’s obligation to validate someone, or be friends with them. When you put your entire self-worth in the hands of random people, this is exactly what happens. They treat you like a broken, tainted object.
The key is to pick a path where you are not well known, and don’t give a shit about other people and what they have to offer.
So much worse than it sounds. This was an indoor race and it wasn’t just running. They used “communal equipment such as ropes, sandbags, rowing machines and medicine balls”
She finished first, so there was poop smeared on everything for the racers behind her. She ruined everyone’s race and potentially got people sick.
If it had been intentional, it would have been a brilliant strategy - take an early lead and shit on everything to slow everyone else down.
I can’t stop laughing
Runners often have the shits, it’s just biology
Runners also run outdoors and don’t share equipment.
It’s why they’re runners – they frequently have to shit without much warning, so they’ve gotten good at running (to the nearest bathroom or waste receptacle)
True, let’s not conflate cause and effect ig.
I wonder what Usain Bolt’s diet must have been 🤔
Amazing.
It was bad enough that athletes behind her were gagging and trying not to vomit. Now, hyrox did give those athletes time penalties.
You know what? I’m going to give myself a little treat today and not read this article!
It’s guaranteed to be a shit article.
I’m sure she didn’t want to shit herself, so she’s goof.
Edit I meant good, but goof works too
She may have been #1 but #2 was right on her heels.
And in her socks. Also her back and arms somehow.
Nice of her to apologize, but this is really on the officials and the organization for not pulling her out.
High-level athletes are always going to want to compete. They’ll play through injury and discomfort to win. If it were up to them, they would and do put themselves in danger of further injury just to get out there and play. That’s why coaches and staff are the ones who make decisions to bench players for injury and it’s not left up to the players themselves.
I agree, it’s not on her to withdraw herself from the competition. I don’t think she owes an apology. If she won, she won. If it was unsafe for the other competitors the judges should have pulled her out.
I dont know. If literal shit is leaking from my ass to the point that i, and everything i touch, gets smeared with it, i believe i would have the good sense to seek out a bathroom. You know, instead of touching more things with my plague hands, and somehow expecting to win because i made my opponents gag from the shit smell.
That’s what you’re saying as a lay person, but imagine being a world-class athlete, in their prime, who’s been training for this stuff for decades. Race day shows up, you feel fine at the start, little queesiness, are you gonna let that stop you? She probably trusted a fart to be just a fart, and once that happens… well. Are you gonna run off in shame? Or will you adopt the mindset of “well, the worst already happened, might as well keep going.” She’s got athlete brain, she wants to win, she’s been training for years. I understand it.
I really think that the judges should’ve stepped in. Indoors? Shared equipment? Judges should’ve put a stop to that. People are kinda crazy at that high-end level of competition, they want to win at any cost. We just found out that shitting yourself in public was a cost she was willing to pay.
You’ll never get an unexpected and devastating 2nd place finish at your first Ironman triathlon with that attitude.
spoiler
___look up Julie Moss
It’s wild that she just kept on competing. Call me crazy but once I shit my pants in front of thousands of people I immediately get the fuck out if there.
She got the runs, not the stops.
If I could give more than one upvote…well played!
And that’s why you’re not a champion! Every winner shits their pants!
Good enough for POTUS is good enough for my household.
USA! USA! USA!
Just don’t get that one dude who’ll stare you in the eye and try to outshit you
many long distance cyclists piss and shit in their knicks.
I’ll never look at those Spandex’d cyclists the same way 😶
