Don’t buy the lie about a war on cars. They’ve been waging a WAR ON WALKING for a century.
Once we open our eyes to the damage done by the #WarOnWalking, it’s impossible NOT to see it.
And when we finally try to improve things, giving more options for people to get around our cities, and decreasing car DEPENDENCY, they have the audacity to claim that’s a #WarOnCars.

This morning on the way to work, I watched a kid of maybe 10 riding a scooter and having to navigate around a couple of cars that were in such a godawful hurry for some reason. If he had been run over and killed, the driver of the car might have got a ticket. A citation. For killing a child, because he was trying to get to school.
Im still mad about it.
Why generate a slop picture when there are thousands of roads like that in the u.s.?
Seriously. A pic of Highway 401 in Ontario would suffice.
Or the High Five in Dallas.
People get defensive and stop listening, stop thinking. You tell them about all the bad things downstream from car centrism, they realize they drive a car, and then they emotionally decide you’re a bad person for “making them feel bad”
It’s a rare person who can tank “you’re making the world worse”
There should be a war on cars.

It’s always projection. There very much is a war and one side is guarding all the doors and holding all the keys, so to speak.
Cars had first mover advantage in the construction of most cities in the Midwest and west and unfortunately there is no unfucking everything being a spread out disaster making even adding transit not as effective.
The best-funded lobbiests work for oil and real estate developers who suck fantastic amounts of public money to support their bottom lines and needs.

No, there really isn’t a war on cars in any real sense.
Yes, there does need to be one.
On the other hand, just listening to Norman Finkelstein on Hasan Piker’s show and he talks about the “war” framing being implicitly supportive of Zionism… so maybe the point of people saying there is “war on cars” is to encourage a defensive (violently?) response from drivers.
We should probably be marketing this as a struggle for safer options, or somesuch, but, honestly, we shouldn´t shy away from saying we want fewer cars on streets and fewer streets with cars.
