I’m very tall and one time I was in my 97 year old grandmother’s room because I’d had to use her bathroom and she was half awake and said, “No! Go away!” and I was like, damn, ok. But I think she thought I was Death! :/

I asked her what the most impactful technology she’d seen in her lifetime was and she said, “the next one.” So cool. I expect it would be for things like mental health, cultural / religious, or practical reasons i.e. shouting really loud can land you an ASBO if you do it for no reason, but not if it’s part of psychotic episode, call to prayer, or an attempt to alert people to danger.
Likely if he had done it to people he knew, and by extension that this particular prank wouldn’t excessively affect them negatively.
Pranking your friends in public, poor taste, but possibly acceptable. Pranking random members of the public, at what could be the worst time of their life…
I don’t necessarily condone what he did, but to be fair if I was in hospital with some deadly disease I’d find someone going about dressed as the Grim Reaper hilarious. I once found a lot of amusement when I was in A&E with an allergic reaction to a horsefly bite, there was a funeral directors on the ad carousel in the waiting room. Talk about targeted advertising!
90% of people would be fine with it too, maybe more. Unfortunately, it would be VERY easy to catch someone in a very bad state, and make it even worse. Without the context of what sort of person they are, and what they are currently in for, it’s FAR more likely to run into someone who wouldn’t see the funny side.
Don’t get me wrong, it could be hilarious. E.g. the guy who did the same at a nursing home, where he also lived. The heart attack induced was just an unfortunate outcome that put it in the news.
We also have the very catch all of “disturbing the peace”. Some friends of mine got done with that because the police had been called despite no actual crime being committed. They were eventually “bound over” for a year which is basically a deferred fine to encourage you not to do anything that attracts the police’s attention.
Mate, he didn’t have his nuisance license. As punishment he will now be forced to observe the 3pm tea alarm with a glass of luke warm water.
How is “because it was funny” not a reasonable excuse in this one instance?

At first glance it is really funny. But of course the people who were genuinely affected are the victims. And nothing funny about it.

It IS really funny.
It would be pretty funny in a sitcom, but significantly less so in real life.
There are situations where it isn’t: loosing the morher and baby at the same time - you look outside and there is this baboon making fun of it.
But if you look at a Scrooge like situation it might poke someone in the right direction also.
It would be more appropriate to be in a grim reaper costume in front of smoke shops / liquor stores. Nobody would raise an eyebrow. And that’s still funny while being the good guy reminding people of the dangers.
It’s personal taste. Just because it’s not okay doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. Neurodivergent people are facing bad reactions from others every day each day.
Anyhow, just as I said, I find it funny. Surprisingly I thought especially the British (source) are a fan of dark humor.

English isn’t meant for the roman alphabet, but Welsh is even worse for it. Honestly a lot of languages needed a Sequoyah rather than just borrowing an alphabet from whomever conquered them
St. Asaph is a place in North Wales, a nice place to visit.

Welsh has its own alphabet that’s different from the English one, the spelling is actually a bit more sane than English. English would sound bloody ridiculous too if you used the Welsh alphabet to speak it as well.

Perfectly fine to do this here in America. Actually most hospital rooms are empty. Ain’t nobody got money to pay for our broken healthcare system!
While your sentiment is for sure in the right place, the inverse is the case right now; I don’t know of a region that isn’t floating at crisis levels for bed avaliablity (right now US hospitals are roughly 89% full, well over the predicted threshold for “shit starts collapsing” at 85%). It’s really, really bad out there.

My hospital hovers around 100% year round. We were at 130% recently, that was bad. Very bad.
Hey it could be worse, you could be at one of the psych hospitals! Poor fuckers are running at 400%+ capacity on a good day. They’re so overtaxed they’re turfing people from forensic beds, and anyone that isnt a critical emergent case is never getting admitted. It’s so much fun!

Yes. This is in a major city in Colorado, we’re not a small hospital nor are we in a rural place. There’s no excuse
