Thank you for this. I will make the extra effort to steer new accounts here that get posts removed from where I moderate.

This is a much better idea than not removing posts.
Mods have enough to deal with. If getting a single post removed turns someone away from the platform because they couldn’t be arsed to read the rules or search again for the right community, that’s probably a net benefit for the entire Lemmy community.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do women know of a man has feelings for them?English
1·2 days agoSounds to me like it’s a group chat and OP was for some reason high in a courthouse laughing at two people arguing, or play arguing, in said group chat.
That post is just setting off all kinds of alarm bells.
What are the odds that something could impersonate them in a way that gets their account banned? And if that really did happen, why on earth would they not be able to talk about it?
Shady AF.
Off topic is off topic. Removing a post for violating rules isn’t mean, it’s maintaining the integrity of the communities people come here for.

9·2 days agoGlad to hear, I almost chimed in and suggested you just setup audiobookshelf but thought you probably didn’t want to do another server.
It really is the best tool for the job.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a good non-cash compensation/show of appreciation to a neighbor for cat-sitting?English
1·3 days agoOP said his favorite beer, if OP knows what his favorite beer is and thought it might make a good gift, OP may have context that tells them the neighbor enjoys beer. If someone got me a favorite beer of mine after I did them a favor I would really appreciate it. I would insist it wasn’t necessary but I would graciously accept the gift and appreciate it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•just got an unexpected 1k refund... what should I do with it?English
18·3 days agoPay off debt for sure. And then use the money you were going to pay the debt with to put into savings.
Wrong community
How about passing a law that makes it illegal to sell any of someone’s data without express written consent for each sale.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you ever used a water treatment system in your home?English
0·5 days agoYou want to know the funny thing about those types of filters? Unless you religiously replace them as soon as they are saturated, they leech the crap they sucked up back into your water. So people who let the filter go too long are drinking water that is worse than they started with.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you ever used a water treatment system in your home?English
0·5 days agoWhy is removing the chlorine important to your wife? Why does she think a filter won’t introduce more microplastics than it removes? Is the entire filter system plastic free? (The answer to that is "no. ")
